Reviews
Show what your clients say on your public profile, and let Barclo ask them for a review after a visit. Nothing goes on your page until you say so.
Reviews from real clients are the strongest thing on your public profile. Barclo gives you two ways to get them there: add the kind words clients have already sent you, or let Barclo ask clients for a few words after a visit. Either way, a review only appears on your page once you have added or published it.
Everything is in Settings › Bookings, in the Reviews card. Only the owner and managers can open Settings.
Adding a review yourself
Choose Add a review
At the bottom of the Reviews card.
Type the review
In the client's own words, up to 300 characters.
Add their first name
First name only, and if you like a short line under Town and service, for example "Hextable · walks since 2024".
Confirm you have permission
Tick I have this client's permission to quote them. Reviews must come from real clients who agreed.
Save review
It goes on your page straight away.
Use the arrows to change the order, the pencil to edit a review you added, and the bin to delete one. Changes are saved as soon as you make them. With no reviews, the section stays off your page.
Asking clients for a review
Off by default. Review requests email your clients, so nothing is sent until you switch on Ask clients for a review and press Save.
When it is on, you can also set:
- Your Google review link (optional). In Google Business Profile, choose Ask for reviews and copy the link. With it, the email's first button is Leave a Google review.
- Ask after: how many visits a client needs to have had before they are asked, from 1 to 20. It starts at 3.
Who is asked, and when
- An active client with an email address who has had at least your Ask after number of visits, counting visits that have happened and were not cancelled. You do not need to mark visits complete.
- Only while it is fresh: their latest visit ended in the last 48 hours.
- Once a year at most for each client.
- Emails go out between 10am and 7pm, in small batches through the day.
- A client whose pets have all died or left is never asked, and the email only ever names a current pet.
What the client gets
One email from your business, "How did we do?", thanking them for trusting you with their pet. It has Leave a Google review if you added your link, Write a few words for our page, and Don't ask me again. A client who says no is never asked again.
Write a few words for our page opens a short page, with no account needed, where they write up to 300 characters, the name to show, and choose whether to tick "your business may show this on their page, with my name". The box starts unticked.
Publishing what clients write
| The client | It arrives in the Reviews card as | On your page? |
|---|---|---|
| Ticked that you may show it | Waiting for you | Only when you press Publish |
| Left the box unticked | Private feedback, for you only | Never |
A client's words can be published or deleted, but not edited, so what appears is always what they wrote. Private feedback is still worth reading: it is often the most honest thing a client tells you.
What appears on your profile
Your published reviews show under What clients say, with each client's first name and the line you added, in the order you set. Reviews waiting for you and private feedback never appear.
Reviews and review requests are separate: you can add reviews by hand and leave requests off, or switch requests on and publish only the ones you like.
Questions
Will clients be emailed as soon as I switch it on?
Only clients whose latest visit ended in the last 48 hours and who have had enough visits. Others are asked after their next visit.
Can a review go on my page without my say-so?
No. A review a client writes waits for you to publish it, and one without their permission can never be published.
